Hulu Promotes Jordan Helman to Head of Scripted Content

Hulu has elevated Jordan Helman to the role of head of scripted content.

Helman has been head of drama, Hulu Originals since 2015. In his new role, he will report to Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment. As head of scripted content, he will oversee development across drama, comedy, animation, limited series and international co-productions. A replacement for his prior role as head of drama has yet to be named. Billy Rosenberg will continue to serve as vice president of comedy development, reporting to Helman.

“Jordan has been a key member of the Hulu Originals team and vital to our aggressive push into premium original content since he joined. He and his team have been responsible for our commercial and award-winning success,” said Erwich. “Jordan’s outstanding creative instincts, proven leadership, strategic thinking and deep passion for stories and storytellers will usher in this next phase of Hulu Originals programming.”

During his time as head of drama, Helman and his team have shepherded Hulu hits like: “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which was the first drama series from a streaming service to win the Emmy for best drama series; “The Act;” “Castle Rock;” “Catch-22;“ and “The Great.”

Before joining Hulu, Helman was the vice president of scripted programming at SundanceTV. During that time, he worked on a slate of originals and co-productions including “Top of the Lake,” “Rectify,” “The Honorable Woman” and “Hap and Leonard.”
